Indeed they are. Senior show is going up this week... due date. Tomorrow.
Best part? Pancake date with the photo kids and Cathy before we go to the gallery! YES!
Can't wait.

Another thing I can't wait for are some of these shows that are coming up.
On the 23rd we've got GREG GINN & THE TAYLOR TEXAS CORRUGATORS at the Heirloom. Yeah THE Greg Ginn from Black Flag! So exciting.
I put together a Red Cross Fund Raiser that is happening on May 1st. Should be a good day.
Sidewalk Dave is playing at BAR this Wednesday. Awesome Folk Rock? Awesome pizza? Yes, and YES! Hahaha.
TIM FITE is coming back to the Heirloom on May 17th. Can't wait to shoot him again. He's so fun, and nice =)
Oh, and.... THE PROTOMEN!! I'm going to see them in NYC on the 29th!! Just can't get enough of that Mega-Man inspired rock and roll!

Can't wait to see them again. It's going to be a fun time. As dumb as it seems, I'm looking forward to a hotdog from a cart. There's something about super dirty water that makes them taste so good.
Speaking of Sidewalk Dave, I saw them play The Space ten days ago. That was a good time too. Here's a few of those shots too.

That last one is a panoramic shot. We learned how to do them in one of my classes, and thought it would be fun to try one with a live shot. Not that bad, hopefully as I get better at piecing them together they'll get more interesting.

The first show I got to see that I'll be posting about is the premier event for the film "NineteenNitnyNumb". It was about the music scene in Danbury in the 90s. I got to see a lot of my favorites; Ultrabunny, Creepdust, and Total Dick. I also got to see Loud Youth, hadn't really seen them before. They weren't that bad.

So the next show I'm going to post from, was from the Nice New Outfit show at the Calhoun School in New York City. It was a really great show, and I had a really good time.

The final show I'll be posting about is the doublethink show I went to in Hartford at Up or On the Rocks. This place was interesting. It's more of a dance club than a live music venue. They do have live music stages, and performances. But the atmosphere was still too club-like for my taste. Hey, every venue can't be the Heirloom! haha!

Blogging is fun!

Indeed it is! So last week Kiss Kiss played at the Heirloom, and it is always a good time when they come around. It took a while for me to get there, as I was stuck in traffic in New Haven right where you get on 34, for about 40 minutes. It was crazy. Like I've never been in traffic like that in my life. I guess that's what they call rush hour traffic. Anyways, back to the show, and the corresponding photos. Once i got there, I had a great time. I really dug the band that played before Kiss Kiss called Aficionado. They were great, and had a lot of energy.

They played on the floor, which is normally really hard for me to shoot. But the lighting for the floor worked well that night. We must have changed the bulbs or something, cause it was pretty bright.

And considering that I went to Monster Golf yesterday, it's pretty impressive that this beat it. haha. Yesterday we had a show at the Heirloom, and the ever wonderful Malcolm Tent came by and gave me a copy of two new Ultrabunny live discs that my photos are on.
And here is one of them!

The one pictured is from a show on October 17, 2009 at the Heirloom Arts Theatre. The other one is from a show in Manhattan, but it got put in a package to go to England before I could take a picture of it to show you all. There's only going to be 10 copies of each, so if you want one act quickly. Find Malcolm Tent and give him money and he'll give you the CD! =D

Hello all.
So I haven't shot anything in about a month. Personal circumstances took over, and I was just not up to it. So last night I was so nervous about shooting. I thought that maybe I wouldn't be anywhere near I was when I stopped, and that my lack of practice would come back to bite me. I was the biggest ball of nerves you would have ever seen. So my dear friends, doublethink, are about to start playing, and who do I see out of the corner of my eye? Andrew Wallach! *dies* If you don't know who he is you need to check him out now! http://www.myspace.com/awallachphoto & http://www.myspace.com/theartofmakingmusic I think his work is amazing, so the fact that he was there also shooting was like great, I was even more nervous, and I almost didn't want to take any photos cause he was there. Thankfully something came over me, I got over whatever nervous energy was around me, and was able to shoot. I really feel better that I got to shoot them, and feel kind of dumb that I was still too nervous that I couldn't go try and introduce myself to Andrew. There will be other times, hopefully. Enough of my blabbering, here's some photos. =D

I really love this photo. There's something about scott's glasses that reminded me of Morrissey's glasses from the 80s.

You know what annoys me?

... A lot!

When I talk with a band about a look that they would like for their photos. Then I spend hours working on said photos to make them look how they wanted them to look so that we have something like this....

Then after all that work, and all that time I spent doing all that. The band does this...

Seriously, what the heck? That's just a huge slap in my face. Why would you have me waste my time trying to get something special that you wanted, if you're just going to make it look flat and crappy like that? Why bother have someone who actually cares about photography, and how things are represented take your photo if you don't?

Just to clarify. For any other group out there who sees this. These images are not Copyrighted to you, they are Copyrighted to me, my name. Not yours. That means any changes done to the photograph needs to be done by and/or approved by me. If it's not, you have absolutely no right to do so. The way I give you my work, is the way I want it presented. If any band out there recorded a song, had it sounding the way they wanted it, then someone changed it without telling them that band would be furious. They have every right to be. That's something they worked hard on to make how they wanted it to be. The way that band made that song sound is how they wanted to be represented. It's the same way with my photographs. The way I give them to anyone is the way I expect them to be posted, because that is how I want my work to be represented.

Dramatic lighting that is. Sunday I did my second promotional shoot with Cursed by Reason. It was really fun. We discussed what they wanted, and we decided on a really dramatic look. So I used a small work light that was on the floor at it's dimmest setting, and those of you who use work lights know that isn't very dim. It turned out being exactly what we wanted. Some of the shadows we got blew my mind. Here's some, judge for yourself.

Holy Protomen!

Here they are, at long last. The photos from the Protomen show on October 26th. Why the heck did these take so long? For one, have you ever seen the Protomen? This is seriously one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. You can tell that this is just so thought out and carefully planned, yet you never loose that feeling of spontaneity. It was theatrical, yes. Probably the most theatrical things the will ever come through the Heirloom Arts Theatre. I still was filled with the excitement and anticipation of what was going to happen next. Because of all these wonderful thoughts going through my head, and the inability to take my eyes off of what was happening, I ended up taking about 150+ photos of these guys. Yeah. Don't worry, there aren't 150 photos of mine from this night floating around in my flickr. I've narrowed it down to what I feel are the top 15 photos from the night. Here's a little taste for you all of what I took.

Tonite I'm off to the Heirloom Arts Theatre. As wel as on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Sunday is a big day because not only do we have a show, but before the show I'll be doing a promotional shoot with some of my favorite kids, Cursed by Reason. It should be a fun time.

Greetings and what an amazing weekend it has been. Halloween is my favorite holiday, so that alone was exciting. We had an amazing Halloween show at the Heirloom, The Bride of Zombie Stomp. With a lot of amazing bands, and people there to make the festive night more fun.

Here the members of The Natch! rock out dressed as Skeletons.

Here's The After Dinner Formal again. These guys were a key part of this show, they helped me with organizing and finding a lot of the bands.

Here they mixed it up and their keyboardist, Zach, took over for lead vocals for a cover song.

Rob here was probably one of the best dressed people all night. Earlier in the evening he was dressed as a noble "redcoat" or at least that's the only way I could describe it. Here, he's dressed as a shrinner while playing with Ghostie!

Brian used a hat as his costumes all weekend. The night before he was pikachu. Here he is a panada!

I have been so absent from this space. It annoys me when I get behind on things. We had two amazing shows at the Heirloom last weekend. One featuring Ultrabunny, The Fighting Cock, and 76% Uncertain. The other featuring T13C and The Gay Blades. I just got back from my first show ever at the Aminty Teen Center. I was seeing my friends of the The After Dinner Formal play their first show in a while. I've got to say I'm not crazy about the lighting there, or really the venue's lay out. I was kind of confused by it. Any of you ever been there? Thoughts?

Weekend excitement!

So this weekend is going to be wonderfully busy! Just the way I like it! Friday I have the privilege of shooting at The Ridgefield Playhouse. I'll be doing a Meet and Greet and live shots for The Bacon Brothers! Immediately I will be getting myself over to the Heirloom Arts Theatre to hold it down there, and shoot the show of course! Saturday we have a show called "Raygne" I really don't know what it is yet, but should be interesting. Monday we have SAINT BERNADETTE, STEPHANIESID, WINTERPILLS, and ALEXANDER BURNET & THE PROUD FLESH! Good times all around, so expect a weekend full of new posts and new photos!

Just because this weekend is so busy doesn't mean that ALL weekends are! If you want me to do shots for you, all you need to do is ask! And we will work something out! =D

I seem to be finding it very humorous when I catch another person's flash in my photos. Sometimes it works. It isn't too distracting here, so I don't mind it that much.

Hello world! It has been too long!
The last event I shot was the Safe2Swim Weekend Fund Raiser at the Heirloom Arts Theatre. It was a good time, and for those of you who missed it, you missed out! I hope some of you get yourselves down to the Danbury Green, and the Heirloom Arts Theatre this weekend for the actual Safe2Swim Weekend!

So my website is almost at 100% ready. Eric Young is amazing for helping me out with all this. I don't think I could ever thank him enough for being so helpful.

This weekend I will be down at the Heirloom Arts Theatre shooting all our events. Tonight there's King Curly from Australia! Tomorrow night is a Safe to Swim Weekend Fund Raiser! And Saturday Arms and Legs will be playing. What an awesome weekend to be at the Heirloom Arts Theatre.

So still not much is working. Just the "About Me" page. I'm hoping to change that photo in the front too. Any suggestions?

So last night's show was interesting. For me, I tried to experiment a little. Normally, I am a strict no flash kind of person. None. Ever. Except for in studio work. Last night was one of those shows were you could tell them bands had their entire families there. I saw a ton of moms taking photos the entire time their kid was on stage. My main thought was, why don't you video tape it instead? Anyways, because all these people had their point and shoot cameras, their flashes were going off basically the entire show. I caught some flashes in some shots, which looked pretty neat.

So I thought that I would experiment a little bit with my pop-up flash. So I took a few with said pop-up flash. I don't hate them, but it will take some trial and error before I get really comfortable with integrating flash in with some of my shots.

So this is my first flash shot. Not terrible.

This one I wanted to experiment a tiny bit. Kind of neat.

As you can see, someone else's flash got into this one.

Still trying to get the [dot]com working. I'm getting a lot of help from some really great people! Including Eric Young, http://ericyoungdesign.com/ . He's awesome. He also helps the Heirloom Arts Theatre with their website too. It's got one page as of right now. www.mandeepphotography.com Hopefully the rest will be working soon.

Last night's show at the Heirloom was fun. It was a show of IndiePop and Pop Rock/Pop Punk type bands. Not exactly my favorite type of music, but some of the bands were really fun to shoot. Hopefully I'll get some photos up soon.
